Duochrome polish and one stroke nailart

I've had this amazing polish for a month, before I managed to try it. It is by Seventeen, and the code is 539. It is supposed to be a duochrome, but depending on the light and the angle you have your nails at, you can see gorgeous purple/burgundy, olive green, and bronze. And all these with metallic/shimmery effect.

I decided to make some classic one stroke flowers, using similar colors (the purple and green), and keep them close to the cuticle, so that the color shows best on half the nail. Here are some pictures taken inside with artificial light:

I have filmed the nailart process, edited so that I wouldn't take more of your time, and uploaded the video on youtube. I hope I showed all the steps in a comprehensive way..  If you decide to do this on short nails, skip the entire flower and just make 2 or 3-petal ones at the corners of ring and middle finger. This way there will still be enough space for the lovely color to show..

Lidan waterbased acrylic paints in purple and white
Oumaxi waterbased acrylic paints in leaf green and gold
Flat angle brush and detail brush from ebay (different sets)

Metallic blue and easy flower decoration

I enjoy reading the names that the companies find for their polishes! After having a "Guns and Roses" and a "Deep Purple" video, I stopped trying to find names. This was automaticaly the "Metallica" and I have an un-edited animal print design (Guess what the title will be, lol). You can watch the tutorial here.

Peronal Stylist by ColorClub is a gorgeous color, which I failed to capture with my camera:) If you love bold metallic colors, then this is one you should have.. I started making the design, but realized that the white was more distracting than what I was aiming for, so I added more colors and various rhinestones, which complimented it without taking the first role in this play. You could also try one stroke, but I already had it a few weeks ago over a similar blue polish (I love blues).. Un-edited as well..

I did the ring the exact same way as my nails, it was just big enough to fit the whole flower.

Deep purple

I love this deep, but not too dark, purple color. It is by Color Club, N.886 Ms Socialite. Gorgeous, creamy, applies well and dries fast.
I would be happy to have it alone on my nails, but I decided to go for a french manicure instead. So I added some one stroke flowers on 3 of each hand's nails (thumb, middle and ringfinger).

I started with the french manicure, spread some iridesent glitter at the tip, sealed and painted the flowers using purple and white. I added the outlines and minibeads (mostly gold, but with a few silver ones as well, because they were mixed by a small accident..)

Lately, I find myself trying out nail polish on pebbles, so some of these pebbles become matching rings. This color and nailart was definately going to have one!

I loved this french manicure. It was created with Mavala polish and glitter. The flowers are hand painted:)

Valley of butterflies

Many visitors come in Rhodes to enjoy nature's beauty and see the butterflies in millions, staying still and covering entire trees. Butterflies have to keep their energy during this final stage, so visitors are requested to keep quit and not disturb them. Any noise may force them to fly away, consuming their last energy resourses, and cause their early death..

The amazing thing about it, is that they are everywhere..! Perfect weather conditions and place offer butterflies and guests a must-go destination.

I saw a picture shared by a facebook friend and nail artist from Rhodes, Katerina Atsa, and I was totally inspired. So I tried to make my butterflies everywhere but, as in real valley of butterflies, becoming one with the background. I hope you like it..

Testing, testing... net method over polish

Experiment day :)  I had both hands polished and ready to add my nailart, when I got obsessed with the net method.
On my right hand, I used the net as a home-made-stamp. The result was messy on 2 nails, so I try to hide them. Not impossible to do it, but very very messy.. I put some acrylic paint on a flat surface, realy small amount, and diped the net in it. Then I used one of my daughter's school erasers to hold it and use it as a stamp. Worked on 3 of them with no problem.

On my left hand, I let polish dry completely, and added a thick top coat, which is supposed to be fast dry (but it isn't..). Then waited for the moment that the nails are dry to the touch but can still be "scrached" by.. another nail, for example. I placed the net over my nail, and used the eraser to press it on the nail surface. This made an embossed design, like when it is used with acrylic enhancements. Then I covered all nails with watered acrylic paint. When I finished, I used a piece of wet kitchen paper towel to clean the surface. The only paint left was the one that filled the gaps my net had done. I suppose it depends on the net you find, mine left this cool print.

Next time I try, I will definately NOT use black, but a darker shade of my base color.  Of course, if you have a stamping plate with a similar design, you can save yourself from all this trouble:)

"Sorbet" - Gradient and easy one stroke butterflies

I know most people don't like yellow polish as a base color, or wouldn't like it to be at the cuticle area, but this one is realy "soft". I added a solomon gradient (with some purple, because it came out almost orange over the yellow) and green french tip. Then I made what I consider to be the easiest one stroke butterflies, ever:) I hope you like it.

One stroke spring flowers

The original design is 2 different onestroke flowers over purple polish. I made abstract 3-petal flowers in pink and blue, with dotted centers  Then I decided to try something different and play a little with my matt top coat. I am a big fan of super glossy finishings, but I have to admitt that the matt version was more interesting, the flowers popped out more and the total look was bright. Next time I will try to add matt only on the flowers..
